We Saved A Life Last Night

Last night my husband and I went to this company's Christmas Party. When we got home at about 11:30pm I saw something in our pool. Now we get things in our pool all the time some of them include frogs, turtles, snakes along with pine needles tree limbs and palm leafs. This how ever was a first we had a young bunny that thought it could swim and it was doing a pretty good job. The problem came in because it was cold out (for Florida) and the water was very cold the the poor little thing was actually freezing to death. We brought it into the house and made a warm cozy place with a heating pad and some towels in an old large cookie can. I sat with it for an hour rubbing it dry and watching it come back to life minute by minute it. when I was pretty sure that it was going to be ok we put a towel in a cooler in the garage and we put the bunny in there with a small bowl of water. We went out this morning and it had gotten out of the cooler. We let it go in our front yard and it hopped away under a bush. I was very happy that we were able to help this little creature and give it another shot at a life. I will admit that the whole time I was working with this bunny I kept thinking I hope I'm not doing this just to have an owl or hawk get you a soon as we let you go.

Sorry Diamond

In my last post I blamed my dog for digging up and eating the pineapple plant that I was trying to grow. I have found out that she is most likely not the one that did it. I have been told that armadillos and rabbits will do this and we have both living in the wet land area that is behind my house so. So Diamond I am sorry that I jumped to the conclusion that you did this but next time keep the critters away.

I Love My Dog

I came home today to find that my dog had dug up the pineapple plant that I was trying to grow. Not only that but she also ate it so i could not replant it. I have had this plant growing roots for about 6 months and decided to put it in dirt on Sunday. I need to decide weather to try again or not. I think I will because I think it would be great to eat a pineapple that I have actually grown myself. Next time I will keep it up high out of the way so she can not get to it.

Giving Thanks

Today is Thanksgiving as you all know (I hope). We are having some friends over, they are people like us who have little or no family here in Florida. Two of them work with Marty, one works with Berta and the others are just people we have meet in the last year. I am so thankful that we are able to do this. Last year I was worried that Thanksgiving was just going to be Marty, Berta and me, until Marty found one person from work to come over it made my day. I grew up in a family that sat down to Thanksgiving with up to 70 people so I am still getting used to the small amount of people. So Happy Thanksgiving to all

Things Cont.

The best thing about living in Florida

Disney is 2 hours away

Things

People are always asking me how I like Florida so I have made a list of things I miss about Michigan and things I like about Florida.

Things I Miss
Seasons- the color change in the fall, the smell of spring and everything coming back to life, and yes I do miss snow.

Family and Friends- no explanation needed I hope

Back Roads- being able to get just about any place 10 different ways depending on traffic. Where we live there are 3 major roads going north-south and 5 roads going east-west and because of the water you must go over a bridge to get just about any where from my house

Good Beef- the cows in Florida are grass grazed not corn feed and you can taste the difference

Gas Stoves- most of the homes only have electric and I find myself burning things it really makes a difference at least to me



Things I Like about Florida

Meeting new people- We have meet some great people and are starting to get close to some of them

New kinds of wildlife-It is cool to see alligators,wild pigs, and Sandhill cranes.

Year around golf- I know that it is against the seasons but it is fun to golf in January

Cell phones and Facebook- ok I know that you have thees anywhere but they help me stay connected to the people in Michigan

Having to find new things- when you move you need to get used to everything new stores, vet, church, hair dresser, and on and on and on but this had taken me out of my comfort zone and made me stretch and I like that now

Vote I did

I voted today, I did this because I did not want to take the chance of something happening and not being able to make it to the poles on Tuesday. Also I made my decision and did not want to think about it anymore (not an easy decision). My decision came down to listening to what God told me to do and I just hope i heard him right. I feel good about my choice conceding I was hoping for a different person to throw there hat into the ring, and give me a better choice that either of those running. I do not have an issue with the way people vote as long as it is an informed decision and not one made for superficial reasons. My daughter had a discussion with a girl from work that got mad at her because she voted for McCain the girl accused her of not voting for Obama because of his skin color, if you know my daughter you know that could not be farther from the truth. My daughter is the most conservative person in our house and just could not vote for Obama because of his policies. This really made my daughter mad because this girl told her that the only reason was voting for Obama was skin color. I am sure there are many people who will base their vote on skin color alone going both ways and I take issue with all of them. My prayer is that people will look at the issues decide who they think will be the best president and vote.

Sounds I Love

I have been think lately about things I love and have made a a few lists I thought I would start with sound so in no order thees are 10 sound I love

My husband singing- It is usually not a real song he makes up words all the time and is never in tune but it means he is in a good mood and that is always a good thing.

My husband snoring- I know this one sounds strange but I miss it when we are apart.

The words I Love You- I don't think that needs an explanation.

Birds Singing- because I think they are happy when they sing

A group of people praising God- I love to here people telling God how they feel about him.

Wind- Rustling through the Trees and grass

Babies- any noise they make is like music to me crying, laughing, breathing it is just wonderful

A river flowing over rocks- I love to sit by a Northern Michigan river and just listen.

The crackle of a Fire- it just sounds comforting

A cat purring- the are just happy and content when they purr

Can't we all just get along

Yesterday one of my friends announced which person he was supporting for president and he did this on Facebook. It started a landslide of people telling him why his choice was wrong, asking him if he was kidding,crazy and a host of other comments. Maybe this is why they tell you not to discuss politics with people. As for me I am still not sure who I am voting for, I do not need your input about each person. I know enough I just do not like either choice so it may be a 3rd party that gets my vote, and no it will not be wasted as long as it is the person I think would do the best job. What my point in this is that this person has studied this and prayed over it and has come up whit the person he thinks will be the best for our country. I may or may not agree with him but it is his choice and no one has the right to do what these other friend have done to him. I hope that this will not come between the friendship that these people have because what we all must remember is that God is in control and he already knows who our next president will be and he can handle ANYTHING.

Army of Women

October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month . I hope you all knew that. Last week I saw something on TV and thought I should do that. Then I forgot about it. Today I saw it again on a different show and did not wait I joined. It is called An Army of Women. They are trying to get 1 million women of all shapes, sizes, colors and ages to sign up. They will send yo e-mails to see if you fit into a area that they are looking for for research. You can get to be in trials if you choose.
Also I am very bad about this but I will try to get better at getting my yearly mammograms. I turned 43 yesterday and have had 2, I am almost a year past due. So please go to the web site and register then Talk to your doctor about what you should be doing for your health. We can stop this form of cancer as long as enough of us get involved. By the way I do not know anyone who has has Breast Cancer and I hope I never do.

Well how did you do let me konw

To much time to think

I work at a golf course and though is sounds strange we have no golfers in the summer, so most of my day is spent either watching TV, doing puzzles or thinking (scary I know). Lately I have been watching all the stuff on the election. NO this is not going to be about the person I think should win because I am still deciding instead i have thought of how to change our whole election process.

1) The entire election season should be no longer than 6 mo. No one could campaign or ever say that they wanted to run for office until 6 mo. before the Nov. election. (This would save untold amounts of money spent over the years it takes now)

2) All primaries would be held the 2nd Tuesday in August That way the would all count for each party not just the first few.

3) Any one can vote in the primary no matter your party affiliation (moving to Florida we had to declare our party and that is the only party you can vote for in the primary, I have a huge problem with this because it means that independents can't vote in the primary or if you want to cross party lines because you think the other guy is the best guy you can't)

4) Any person holding a elected federal position must resign to run for a different position. I do not like the idea that we pay people to do a job and instead of doing that job they are out trying to get a new one and collecting full pay. I don't know about you but no boss I know would put up with that.

5) I also think that the Vice President should run separately from the President this way we could elect the person we like best in both seats.

Let me know what you all think about my ideas or am I the only one who would love to see things change

Hello

Hi all. After reading all your posts I found myself wanting to try this so here it goes. Please keep in mind that English and anything to do with it were my worst subjects in school, so do not expect any thing that would win any awards i just want to keep people up to date on my life and things in sunny Florida.

It has been just over a year that we moved here and i am still adapting but we have found a great church with wonderful people and have gotten involved (yes we are cooking). I have a job that I do like but it is not Handprints but nothing is. Marty is still enjoying his job. Roberta is involved with the college aged group and helps with the youth on Wednesdays when she is not at work, she also started Indian River State College for busisness she is looking at being a wedding planner ( I think that is a great fit for her).

I miss everyone so much but reading your blogs and being on Facebook with all of you helps me feel closer. I love seeing the pictures of the big ones, I would say little ones but they have all gotten so big.
